Description

Kennedy credits a champion of education: "In fat years and thin, it has been a pleasure to work with you"

TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal United States Senate letterhead, April 12, 1982. Letter to Charles W. Lee, executive director of the Committee for Education Funding, in part: “Your service on behalf of education has spanned many years. You participated in the preliminary skirmishing in the early ‘60’s which resulted in the great education explosion of 1965 with the enactment of ESEA and the High Education Act. And in the immediate subsequent years, you were there for the further expansion of education programs. Those were the fat years. Now, we are in the midst of lean years which see you in the forefront of efforts to thwart the dismantling of the very programs that have recorded more than a decade of success. In fat years and thin, it has been a pleasure to work with you.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
