Garfield in September 1881, Pendel had experienced the assassinations of both Lincoln and Garfield. Scarce ink signature, "Tho. F. Pendel, White House, Nov. 3 1864, Dc 8, 1897,” on an off-white 4 x 2.25 sheet. In fine condition, with a small tear to the bottom edge.
