Description

ALS in French, one page, 4.25 x 5, no date but postmarked December 1886. Handwritten letter to Mrs. Georges Charpentier, in part (translated): "We deeply regret not to be in a position to accept your invitation…We mostly came to attend the first of 'cinq doigt de Birouth'…in any case I'd like to see Charpentier…We obviously expect you all for Christmas." In fine condition. Georges Charpentier was a French publisher who became known as a champion of naturalist writers, especially Emile Zola, Gustave Flaubert, and Guy de Maupassant.
