Italian composer (1795-1870) best known as a predecessor to Giuseppe Verdi and for operas such as Il Giuramento and Orazi e Curiazi. Autograph musical manuscript by Saverio Mercadante, 13.25 x 9.75, two pages both sides, signed and inscribed at the conclusion in Italian and dated 1843. Mercadante pens a lengthy excerpt from his three-act opera "Il Reggente," writing the title at the top. In fine condition, with a central vertical fold. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
