Description

"Getting both rich blacks and striking whites its a tough job—it is easy to over-do the whites and give them a phoney look!"

TLS signed “Ansel,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, January 15, 1958. Letter to "Nick," in part: "Thank you very much indeed for the copy of the Weston portrait. I like it immensely, and while it does not show Edward at his best, it still is probably the last good picture made of him…I am enclosing one advance copy of Aperture; your picture of Zabette looks fine! I really rode hard on them and I think we have solved the problem of getting good blacks. Getting both rich blacks and striking whites its a tough job—it is easy to over-do the whites and give them a phoney look!" In fine condition.
