Description

American writer and filmmaker (1894-1964) who is considered ‘one of the most successful screenwriters in the history of motion pictures.’ Hecht won Best Original Story Oscars for the films Underworld (1927) and The Scoundrel (1935). Rare DS, one page both sides, 8 x 3.5, October 20, 1941. A 'Certificate of Nonresidence and Claim for Personal Exemption' from California's Income Tax Division, which states that Ben Hecht of New York was paid a total income of $25,000 by the Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation in 1941. Hecht signs on the reverse in black ink, asserting that he is entitled to $2500 of personal exemptions. In fine condition.
