German-American businessman (1845-1927) who assisted his brother, Adolph, in building and financing the Sutro Tunnel. Two bonds for the Comstock Tunnel Company, in the amounts of $500 and $1000, issued September 1, 1889, each signed in ink by Theodore Sutro as the company's president. Both retain 54 of their coupons. In fine condition.
