DS, signed “Philip,” one page, 8 x 13, 1980. Statement issued from Buckingham Palace, in full: "Only ex-servicemen can appreciate the remarkable comradeship which develops in fighting units. Paradoxically, that comradeship is never greater than among those who have shared dangers, hardships, and adversities together. For 60 years the spirit of the Old Leek Battery has lived on in Bert Sheldon, Harry Goldshaw, Ernie Taylor, Jack Robey, 'Jack' Spratt, Walter Serrel and Bill Bowyer. There could be no finer tribute to their comrades, to their unit and to their Regiment." In very good to fine condition, with light creasing and staining. An interesting comment on the camaraderie of those who fought for a noble cause.
