Military officer (1718-1791) best known for his service in the British Army in North America during the Seven Years' War and the American Revolutionary War; he went on to serve as governor of the Province of Quebec. Partial manuscript DS, signed “Fred. Haldimand,” one page, 7.5 x 2.5, December 17, 1766. Partial document certifying service to his Majesty as a "Soldier during the late War, in the late 4th Batt'n Roy'l Americans." Signed at the conclusion by Haldimand. Slightly trimmed (affecting text along the left edge) and professionally inlaid into a larger sheet, and in fine condition.
