American poet and writer (1830-1885) who became an activist on behalf of improved treatment of Native Americans by the United States government, celebrated for her history A Century of Dishonor (1881) and her novel Ramona (1884). ALS signed “Helen Jackson,” one page, 5.5 x 7.75, May 21, [no year]. Handwritten letter to "Miss Booth," in part: "Is this article on the new India Museum in London in your 'line'? If so, and you like it, I think the illustrating will come in admirably with it…If you do not like the article would you kindly return it to me at your earliest convenience." The second integral page has been professionally inlaid into a slightly larger sheet. In fine condition.
