ALS signed “O. W. Holmes,” one page, 4.75 x 6, December 13, 1884. Handwritten letter to writer and editor Charles Dudley Warner, best remembered as the co-author of The Gilded Age with Mark Twain. In full: "I should have sent you a copy of my Emerson, but I took it for granted that you had one of the first copies from the publishers, and a pile of them if you wanted so many. Shall I send you one with the author's name in it, or have you got tired of the sight of it." In fine condition. Warner served as editor for Houghton Mifflin's 'American Men of Letters' series of biographies. Holmes contributed the volume on the great transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson, published in 1885.
