Description

Signer of the US Constitution from Pennsylvania (1744-1800) and first governor of that state. Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “Tho. Mifflin,” one page, 21 x 11, March 31, 1796. As governor of Pennsylvania, Mifflin grants unto Joseph Hemphill "a certain tract of land called 'Hopewell.'" Signed in the upper left corner by Mifflin, and countersigned at the conclusion by James Trimble. The white paper seal affixed to the upper left remains mostly intact, with one missing point. In fine condition, with tiny areas of loss along the intersecting folds.
