French military commander (1768-1835) and Marshal of the Empire under Napoleon I, who served during both the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. He later became prime minister of France, and was one of 18 people killed in 1835 during Giuseppe Marco Fieschi's assassination attempt on King Louis Philippe I. LS in French, signed “Ed: Mortier,” one page, 7.25 x 9, June 8, 1807. Letter demanding a shipment of medication for the medical post which had not been received by the promised date. In fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned engraved portrait.
