Vintage leather-bound album with inlaid steel horseshoe to the front cover, 5.5 x 6.5 x 2, which contains a total of 30 carte-de-visite and tintype photographs assembled by an unidentified young girl, who has filled the album with pictures of friends, family members, school mates. Most notable among the various portraits are carte-de-visites of Sam Bass, the 19th-century American train robber and outlaw gang leader, and James Moreau Brown (1821-1895), the President of the Galveston, Houston, and Henderson Railroad. The holder for each picture is annotated in pencil with the subject’s name; the Bass holder reads: “Sam Bass one of my best friends. McGregor Texas.” In overall very good to fine condition.
