English writer (1930-2009) who became associated with the New Wave of science fiction for his post-apocalyptic novels and experimental short stories. ALS, one page both sides, 8 x 10, personal letterhead, February 26, 1983. Handwritten letter to Mr. Robertson, in part: "Many thanks for the copy of Firebird 2, which I look forward reading…I'm halfway through a new novel at present, so I'm afraid won't be able to produce anything new by April. I don't know whether you're interested in already published material—in magazine though not in book form. There's a story by me—'Memoirs of the Space Age' which came out last year…and one recently in City Limits—'Report on an Unidentified Space Station.' I'm afraid I haven't spare copies of either." In fine condition. The half-finished novel referenced was likely Empire of the Sun, published in September 1984 and shortlisted for the Booker Prize.
