TLS signed “Fred Haise, Apollo 13 LMP, Enterprise CDR,” one page, 8.5 x 11, September 9, 199. Letter responding to someone interested in the space program and commenting on his Apollo 13 mission. In part: "We knew that the Command & Service Module would have to be shut down when I noted the second oxygen tank meters start to go down, indicating a slow leak. This time was something like 30 to 45 minutes after the initial explosion of the other oxygen tank. Without oxygen, we would lose the fuel cells which supplied our primary electrical power. Jack Swigert did make the initial call as he was the only one with a headset on at the time of the explosion. Jim was in the tunnel between the two vehicles and I was still in the Lunar Module stowing equipment away that we had taken for our 'show & tell' TV show. Jim Lovell repeated the call when he got his headset on as Houston did not promptly answer Jack's call." He goes on to comment on the possibility of making a Space Shuttle flight, noting that he "did fly the very first Space Shuttle Enterprise in the 1977 Approach & Landing Tests at Edwards AFB." In fine condition. Accompanied by a six-page packet of typed questions and answers related to Haise's astronaut experience.
