Description

Pakistani theoretical physicist (1926-1996) who received the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics for his contribution to the electroweak unification theory. Partial handwritten manuscript by Salam, initialed "AS" as part of the title, one page, 8 x 11, no date. The first page of a paper on field theory, beginning: "Quark confinement may be absolute or may be partial. All we know is that quarks do not appear as physical particles at low energies. There have been several attitudes towards the confinement. There is the naive approach by Feynman. In a recent note we received the suggestion to use an Einstein-like equation to describe spin-2 (f) particles mediating strong interactions." In fine condition.
