German pianist, composer, and conductor (1862-1914) remembered as a pupil of Franz Liszt. AMQS signed "Bernhard Stavenhagen," one page, 6 x 7.25, dated 1892. Stavenhagen pens a line from the 'Dies Irae' theme of the Gregorian Requiem Mass which was used by his mentor, Franz Liszt, for his 'Totentanz' for piano and orchestra. Stavenhagen mimics Liszt's signature below. Ornately double-matted and framed with a portrait of the two together to an overall size of 18.5 x 14.5. In very good to fine condition, with uniform toning and a light central crease.
