English track and field athlete (1899-1978) who was the 1924 Olympic champion in the 100-meter sprint, a feat depicted in the 1981 film Chariots of Fire. He was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1981 and into the England Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009. TLS, one page, 5.25 x 7, December 5, 1960. Letter to sportswriter Gerd Riethenauer in Germany, in part: "I shall look forward to seeing you in Frankfurt next year when I hope to be there with the British Team. I have asked my publisher to send you a copy of my book on the Olympic Games and I hope you will receive that quite safely." In fine condition.
