Scarce official French-language daily program from the Paris 1924 Summer Olympics for swimming and water polo events on Friday, July 18, 1924. The program, 10 pages, 8.75 x 10.75, contains the rosters of the various national swimming teams, as well as the schedule for women’s 400-meter relay, men’s 400-meter freestyle, women’s springboard dives, and women’s 200 meters breaststroke. The program also contains a water polo bracket and a list of the male and female competitors. Front cover bears red pencil notations. In fine condition, with some light edgewear; a wonderful specimen given the program’s nearly 100-year-old age.
At the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, eleven swimming events were contested, six for men and five for women. The United States team, coached by Bill Bachrach, won 19 of the 33 medals, and 9 of the 11 gold medals. Most notably, Tarzan actor Johnny Weissmuller won three gold medals, surfing pioneer Duke Kahanamoku won a silver, and the great Warren Kealoha won a gold.
