The facsimile signature of Theodor Lewald, president of the organizing committee, is printed in the lower right. In very good condition, with overall creasing and some scattered staining.
The 1936 Summer Olympics torch relay was the first of its kind, transporting the Olympic flame from Olympia in Greece to the site of the Games in Berlin. A total of 3,331 torchbearers participated in the relay, which covered 3,187 km over twelve days. Representing the historically important 1936 Berlin Olympics as well as the establishment of the torch relay tradition, this is a rare and significant Olympic diploma.
