From the collection of longtime IOC member James Worrall—an appealing commemorative IOC badge and medal set from the 10th Olympic Congress held in Varna, Bulgaria in 1973, as part of the 74th IOC Session. The gold-tone badge, 25 mm x 32 mm, 15 gm, made by Bertoni of Milan, features the Olympic rings in enamel with raised upper and lower text, “Congress Olympique, Varna ‘73,” with a small “CIO” plaque affixed to the white ribbon that extends an additional 38 mm. The bronze-tone medal, 70 mm, 194 gm, features raised text with the Varna emblem to the front, and the reverse bears an intricate design of two cats. The badge and medal include their original pouch and case.
From the estate of James Worrall.
