American writer (1850-1895) best known for his poems of childhood, including 'Wynken, Blynken, and Nod' and 'Little Boy Blue.' Beautifully and neatly penned ALS, one page, 5 x 8, July 27, 1894. Addressed from Buena Park, Illinois, a handwritten letter to author J. Seymour Currey, in full: “I have known Edgar C. Wells for the last eight years and I take pleasure in testifying to his sobriety, integrity and industry. I hope that you will find it possible to give him employment.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope, which is also addressed by Field.
