Description

Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 16.75 x 13, August 29, 1850. President Fillmore appoints Cornelius L. Russell as "Collector of the Customs, for the District of Cuyahoga and Inspector of Revenue for the Port of Cleveland, in the State of Ohio." Boldly signed at the conclusion by President Millard Fillmore and countersigned by Secretary of the Treasury Thomas Corwin. The white paper seal affixed to the lower left remains intact. In very good condition, with scattered small stains, some minor edge loss, and fold separations repaired with tape on the reverse.
