AMQS on an off-white 6.75 x 8.5 album page, signed with a descriptive note below: "What this motive means in English is more than I know, but I have been requested to write, it gives me pleasure to sign my name on this leaf, Theodore Thomas." On the reverse is an autograph quotation signed by the important Italian actor Tommaso Salvini, one of the leading men of the London stage. He toured extensively in the US and in 1886 performed his signature role of Othello opposite the Iago of Edwin Booth, and was an inspiration for Verdi and Boito in their creation of perhaps the greatest Italian opera ever written.
