British writer (1870-1945) who first came to prominence in the 1890s as the young intimate companion of Oscar Wilde. After Douglas' father, Lord Queensbury, accused Wilde of being a 'somdomite' [sic], Wilde filed the libel lawsuit that led to his own conviction and two-year prison term. Rare vintage matte-finish 5.25 x 7.5 photo of Alfred Douglas wearing a trench coat and a fedora, signed nicely in fountain pen. Affixed to the original mount, the reverse of which bears an affixed "E. W. Pannell" photography label. In fine condition, with faint silvering to the darker areas of the image.
