Desirable blood-red Society of American Magicians membership card issued to Walter G. Peterkin for 1921, 4 x 2.5, boldly signed at the bottom in fountain pen by Harry Houdini as president, and countersigned by H. Rea Fitch as secretary. The details of the Society's "Hospital Benefit" are printed on the reverse. In fine condition, with a light vertical crease and moderate contrast to the signatures against the dark background.
Originally founded on May 10, 1902, in the back room of Martinka's magic shop in New York, the Society of American Magicians expanded under the leadership of Harry Houdini during his term as National President from 1917-1926. In fine condition. This card was issued to Walter George Peterkin, who performed on the lyceum circuit as a magician and ventriloquist under the stage name 'Hal Merton.'
