Description

Houdini writes on his appointments as president of the Society of American Magicians

TLS signed “Houdini,” one page, 8.5 x 5.5, personal letterhead, June 11, 1923. Fantastic letter to Richard Van Dien, former president of the Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.), referencing several fellow magicians. In full: "I have appointed T.W. Hardeen on the Committee of Complaints—and Horace Goldin, William J. Hilliar and David Devant, representatives-at-large." In fine condition. Van Dien served as president of the S.A.M. from 1915 to 1917, when Houdini succeeded him in the role. Houdini would serve as national president of the society until 1926.
