NASA Contractor Report manual (CR-1928) entitled “Preliminary design of an Auxiliary Power Unit for the Space Shuttle—Component and System Configuration Screening Analysis” by R. L. Binsley, J. P. Maddox, R. D. Marcy, R. S. Siegler, and R. Spies, prepared by Rocketdyne for the Lewis Research Center, November 1971, 296 pages, 8 x 10.5, with the front cover bearing two California Institute of Technology stamps and the front cover bearing an affixed Cal Tech address label. The manual contains numerous detailed graphs and illustrated figures for the following sections: Introduction, Summary and Conclusion, Preliminary Analysis—Phase IA, APU Tradeoff Studies—Phase IB, APU Storable Propellant Study, Reliability, and Appendix A—Preliminary Analysis—Phase IA. The introduction, in part: “This report presents data on a Phase I study of auxiliary power units to supply hydraulic and electrical power for both the orbiter and booster vehicles of the space shuttle. The program objective is to provide analysis and design information for gaseous oxygen/hydrogen and storable propellant APU’s.” In fine condition, with some wear to spine.
