American soldier and statesman (1838-1926), grandson of the founder of the DuPont gunpowder and chemical fortune, who won the Medal of Honor for his service during the Civil War and who later served as a railroad executive and senator from Delaware. Partly-printed DS, signed “H. A. du Pont,” one page, 13.75 x 9.75, December 1, 1887. Bond of the Wilmington and Northern Railroad Company in the amount of $500, signed at the conclusion by Henry Algernon du Pont as the company's president. An extension contract is affixed at the left edge. In fine condition.
