Fantastic black denim ‘Versus’ jacket made by Gianni Versace for Elton John’s The One World Tour of 1992 and 1993, size XL, featuring gold-tone lion buttons to front closure, pockets, waist and cuffs, and back featuring gold-tone studs that read “THE” above a large fabric design with overlapping embroidered circle, square, and star patterns with a central “1” numeral, signed prominently within the yellow star in black felt tip, “With love, Elton John, x.” The Versace tag to collar retains its original Versus booklet. In fine condition.
Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from JSA and a fax and information letter from the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which donated this fine Italian jacket to the radio station 99X, for an auction that supported AIDS Walk Atlanta in 1994. Elton John and Gianni Versace were very close friends and Versace designed many of John’s extravagant costumes and even was credited as production designer on John’s Live in Barcelona documentary in 1992. John dedicated his 1997 album The Big Picture to Versace.
