UK vinyl pressing of Paul McCartney’s 1982 album Tug of War, which has been signed on the front cover in black grease pencil by Paul McCartney and George Martin, with the latter adding the inscription: “To Mary, lots of love from…and.” The consignor notes that the signatures date to around the time of the album’s release. In fine condition. The record is included. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and by a letter of provenance from the original recipient: “In the early-mid 1980s I was a Producer at Air-Edel, a ‘Jingle’ company started by George Martin. Air-Edel had a very well stocked drinks cupboard (it was the 80s!) and George would come round occasionally at the end of the day, mix us all Vodka Martinis and spend a few hours chatting with us, telling old Beatles anecdotes etc. He was a fascinating person to talk to and epitomized the word ‘gentleman.’ During my time at Air-Edel, George was producing Tug of War and Pipes of Peace with Paul McCartney at Air Studios and when each album was released he brought around signed copies for all of us.” A desirable and uncommon tandem of Beatles autographs.
