ALS signed “J. M. Barrie,” one page, 5.5 x 7.25, Adelphi Terrace House letterhead, January 1, 1925. Handwritten letter to actress Edith Johnston, in full: “Thank you for your nice New Year wishes. You have indeed had a hard 1925 and I hope 1926 will be much better. I am so sorry I don't have any part, but there it is.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Barrie's hand. Towards the end of an illustrious stage career, Edith Johnston created the role of Queen in Barrie’s A Kiss for Cinderella (Wyndham’s, March-July 1916) and also later appeared as Mrs. Coade in Barrie’s Dear Brutus (Wyndham’s, 1922).
