Description

ALS signed “R. E. Peary, U.S.N.,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, February 24, 1903. Handwritten letter addressed from the New York Navy Yard and sent to William H. Rideing, editor of the Youth's Companion, in full: “I have been able to give the matter of an article for the Youth’s Companion no attention. My little girl has been & is very sick. I owe you an apology for my apparent negligence in the first place. I was under the impression from your first letter that you required decision as to title only at present, & that you did not intend to publish for some time. I trust some other time I may be more fortunate.” In fine condition, with irregular toning to the first page.
