Available to US bidders only. An unusually shaped flown insulation assembly used in the wings of the Space Shuttle to protect the aluminum structure from the radiant heat of the Reinforced Carbon-Carbon leading edge of the wing during reentry. Measuring approximately 7.5 x 5 x 5, the part consists of an Inconel sheet encasing insulation material, with part number "VO70-190278-002 Serial Number 002," stenciled on the brace. Upper portion is also labeled "Scrap," in a technician's hand. In fine condition. The low serial number suggests it is from an early flight in the program. Insulation originates from the Charles Bell Estate.
