Exceedingly rare pair of Apple ‘rainbow’ sunglasses that Steve Wozniak had custom made by an optometrist circa 1979, produced as one of a limited issue of 30. The sunglasses have Metzler-TWE 145 frames and feature vibrant rainbow-colored lenses designed in the shape of the iconic Apple logo. Includes a display case. The cover of Steve Carr’s 1984 book, WOZ: the Prodigal Son of Silicon Valley, depicts Wozniak wearing a pair of these sweet shades. In fine condition.
These originate from the collection of Kenneth Silverman, a Silicon Valley engineer, friend of Steve Wozniak, and member of the first Apple User Group—the San Francisco Apple Core. Accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by both Wozniak and Silverman, stating that Woz gave them to Silverman in 1979. Also includes a detailed letter from Silverman discussing the history of Apple in Silicon Valley.
