Mexican composer, music educator, and scholar (1882-1948) whose work connected the concert scene with a mostly forgotten tradition of popular song and Mexican folklore. Many of his compositions are strongly influenced by the harmonies and form of traditional songs. Scarce AMQS on an off-white 9 x 3.75 musically lined sheet, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “Manuel Ponce, To Mr. Lionel A. Aucoin, Mexico City, 2 May 1943,” who adds 12 bars of music from his composition, “Scherzino Mexicano.” In very fine condition.
