Description

Brigadier General in the Continental Army (1750-1803) during the American Revolutionary War who had previously served as an aide-de-camp to General George Washington. Third-person ALS, signed three times within the text, “Gen'l White,” one page, 6.75 x 4, November 6, 1795. Handwritten letter to John Nicholson in Philadelphia, in part: "Gen'l White presents his most respectful comps: to Mr. Nicholson & hopes it will be convenient to pay the bearer the amount of Mr. Van Berckel's order this day which Gen'l White will consider a very particular favor, as he is under the necessity of leaving the city this morning, & must borrow the money—on the order if Mr. Nicholson cannot accommodate him, at the same time he flatters himself, Mr. Nicholson will forgive the liberty Gen'l White takes in making the request." Addressed on the integral leaf in White's own hand. In fine condition, with some scattered edge loss. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
