Eminent French sculptor (1834-1904) best known for designing the Statue of Liberty. ALS in French, signed “Bartholdi,” one page, 8.25 x 5.25, personal letterhead, July 31, 1888. Handwritten letter to a gentleman, in part (translated): "I am waiting to see you…today; my mother is leaving Friday. I'm very upset about asking you to do the photography I need…I use a great many…Please…send…as soon as possible." In very good to fine condition, with light show-through from some old tape and mounting remnants on the back.
