Description

"After the war you will see television forging ahead much faster than did radio after the World War"

Prolific American inventor (1873-1961) often referred to as 'the father of radio' for his pioneering work in wireless telegraphy. World War II-dated TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Lee de Forest Laboratories, Radio Electronics letterhead, May 1, 1943. Letter to noted autograph collector Theodore R. Stillwell, in part: "It is indeed, as you point out, a source of deep satisfaction to me to be able to observe the enormously useful part which the radio tube is performing for us and our Allies during this war. After the war you will see television forging ahead much faster than did radio after the World War; assuming that we do not immediately enter into a very deep business depression. I firmly believe that, given wise and far-seeing direction in Washington, such a calamity can be prevented.” In very good condition, with tape stains to the corner tips, and irregular toning affecting appearance. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
