U. S. Grant's vice president (1812-1875) who died during his term in office. ALS signed “H. Wilson,” one page, 7.75 x 9.5, August 9, 1856. Handwritten letter from the "Senate Chambers," addressed to E. G. Dudley, in full: "Your check for two Hundred Dollars on the Eliot Bank has been received." In very good to fine condition, with some creasing to the top edge, and ink offset at the bottom from premature folding. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
