French admiral (1726-1805) who participated in the War of the Austrian Succession, Seven Years' War, and American War of Independence; recognized as an outstanding officer, he was a knight of the Order of Saint Louis, a member of the Society of the Cincinnati, and one of the first Grand officers of the Légion d'honneur. Manuscript DS, in French, one page, 8 x 10, October 13, 1797. Untranslated military document, signed at the conclusion by Georges René Le Peley de Pléville as minister for the navy and the colonies. In very good to fine condition, with overall foxing.
