Sister of King George II of Great Britain who became Queen of Denmark and Norway from 1766 to 1772 by marriage to King Christian VII. The marriage was marked by infidelity on both sides, including her own affair with royal physician Johann Friedrich Struensee, resulting in her divorce from Christian VII in 1772. Exiled to Celle Castle in Germany, Caroline died there of scarlet fever in 1775 at the age of 23. Rare ink signature, "Caroline,” on an off-white 7.25 x 2.5 slip, pinned inside a collector's folder with notation indicating that it was clipped from a document in which she complained to the government about a delay in the payment of her allowance. In fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned engraved portrait.
