ALS signed “Henry W. Longfellow,” one page, 3.75 x 5.25, April 6, 1854. Addressed from Cambridge, a handwritten letter to Miss Fay, in full: "I forgot to hand the inclosed to you yesterday. I hope it will not be too late for your letter." In very good to fine condition, with light wrinkling, and show-through, from old mounting remnants on the back. A neatly penned letter from the great fireside poet that dates to his first year of retirement.
