Fascinating complete set of 14 NASA ‘Special Projects Divison’ blueprints for a 1:8 scale model of the Surveyor 1 space probe, the first lunar soft-lander in NASA’s uncrewed Surveyor program, which successfully gathered data about the lunar surface that would be needed for the crewed Apollo moon landings. Each blueprint measures 34.25″ x 22″ and features various illustrated angles of the proposed model, all of which are meticulously and impressively rendered, in addition to numerous highly detailed diagrams related to the measurements, materials, and equipment needed for its construction. The lower right corner of each sheet contains a legend listing information like the project, artist, drawing number, and date (September and October of 1962). The final sheet contains a list of 109 details or parts that make up the model, the majority of which are brass. Rolled and in very good to fine condition, with some light dampstaining and edge wear; all but three of the sheets are stapled together.
