Description

French violinist and composer (1766-1831) perhaps best known as the dedicatee of Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 9, Op. 47 (1803), known as the Kreutzer Sonata. He was professor of violin at the Paris Conservatory from its founding in 1795 until 1826, and was one of the authors of the violin method taught there. Rare ALS in French, signed “Kreutzer,” one page both sides, 7.5 x 9.5, no date. Untranslated handwritten letter to the violinist Alexandre Boucher, regarding plans for a concert. In fine condition, with intersecting folds and light soiling.
