Confederate general (1800-1865) noted for commanding prisoner-of-war camps throughout the South during the war, including Andersonville and Libby Prisons. Manuscript DS, signed “Jno. H. Winder,” one page, 7.5 x 2.5, May 5, 1862. In part: "The Provost Marshall will please take into his charge the case of Mr. Pearry, relating to his trunk in possession of the Southern Express Co." In fine condition. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
