At the 1904 Summer Olympics of St. Louis, Missouri, eleven gymnastics events were contested for the first time and were spread out over several months. The International Turners' Championship was held July 1-2 and comprised the all-around, triathlon, and team events, and the Olympic Gymnastics Championships was held October 29 and comprised the seven individual apparatus events and the combined event. As expected the Americans dominated the events, in large part because they supplied 110 of the 119 participating athletes.
