She was the inspiration for Irving Berlin's musical Call Me Madam, which starred Ethel Merman as the character based on Mesta in both the Broadway play and the movie. Matte-finish 11 x 12 photo of Mesta seated and draped in white fur, affixed to the original Seawell Photography mount, which is signed in blue ballpoint, "With warmest regards, Perle Mesta."
