Description

Composer, arranger, and conductor of music for films (1900-1970) who received 45 Oscar nominations throughout his prolific career, winning the award nine times. Some of his most famous scores include Wuthering Heights, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Mark of Zorro, How Green Was My Valley, The Song of Bernadette, Captain from Castile, All About Eve, Love is a Many Splendored Thing, Anastasia, The Diary of Anne Frank, How The West Was Won, and The Greatest Story Ever Told. DS, one page, 8.5 x 13, May 5, 1931. Agreement between Newman and Samuel Goldwyn Inc., in which he transfers "all rights of every kind and character whatsoever throughout the world in and to the music written by the undersigned in connection with the musical composition now entitled 'The Dunking Song.'" Signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by Newman and countersigned by a notary. Newman also initials the document, "A. N.," twice near the top. In fine condition.
